  History Strida in UK

In 1989 UK designer Mark Sanders presented Strida 1 as the solution to traffic congestion. This collapsible bike meets all the necessary requirements: user convenience, fast folding and unfolding, minimum weight, Kevlar belt drive and easy transport of the folded bike through the use of the wheels. Its unique design and quality resulted in excellent sales en brand name awareness from 1994.

Consecutively, between 1998 and 2003 Strida 1 is redesigned and updated into Strida 2 / 3 / 3.1 and 3.2.The folding bike is getting more comfort, an aluminum frame and collapsible handlebars. Individual styling and flexible design are added to its characteristic construction and to its accessories. In 2001 the production facilities were moved to Ming Cycle Industrial Co. Ltd. in Taiwan, one of the world's largest bike production manufacturers.

The latest revolution for Strida has become the Strida 5.0, created in March 2007. Where necessary, the folding bike has been adapted to the West-European market by using light-weight metal wheels and disc brakes. The Strida 5.0 will be launched on the 1th of March 2008 in the UK.
From Feb. 28th 2008 Strida BV will be the new distributor for the redesigned Strida folding bike in the UK. All existing business affairs of Strida Ltd. will officially end at this date. Strida BV, the Dutch company that successfully imported the original English folding bikes in The Netherlands and Belgium over the past five years, will be responsible for all Sales and Distribution activities in Europe.

Corporate Strategy
In the UK this change of strategy will have considerable effect. The selling of Strida folding bikes used to be exclusively through the Internet, but starting from Feb. 28th 2008 a selected group of dealers will also be responsible for Sales and Service of Strida bikes to UK customers. One of the benefits of creating these new outlets is the opportunity for customers to test-ride their Strida folding bike before purchasing it. Next to this, Strida BV plans to appoint flagship-stores that sell the complete Strida product line, including all models, accessories and novelties. Strida BV's corporate headquarters in the Netherlands will definitely continue the existing service and shipping terms. "The level of service and ease of doing business will be upgraded to a much higher level", says Ties Carlier, co-owner of Strida BV.
